Visit by Future Economy Council (FEC) Built Environment (BE) Cluster Sub-committee Members to SinBerBEST Living Lab in BCA

On 19th November 2019, Minister for Social and Family Development & Second Minister for  National Development, Mr Desmond Lee and fellow co-chair Mr Lim Ming Yan, former president and group chief executive office of CapitaLand, along with the FEC BE Cluster Sub-committee members visited the living lab at the Zero Energy Building (ZEB) located in the BCA Braddell Campus. This living lab, which is under testing and commissioning, is the culmination of a research collaboration between SinBerBEST and BCA.  Arising from years of Research & Development (R&D) at SinBerBEST, innovative building technologies, including the 1st hybrid cooling system for office environment and the 1st fully integrated smart control building system in Singapore, are deployed. The collaboration with BCA is expected to (a) result in the formulation of design guidelines for hybrid cooling system, (b) provide expert solution locally and overseas through the contractors and consultants involved in the project and (c) capability building and training of new skill sets for our local workforce. Prof Stefano Schiavon provided an overview of the SinBerBEST technologies in the living laboratory emphasising the key energy saving measures and improved occupant comfort. Mr Christopher Soyza then showed live demonstration of the User Personal Space Setting (UPSS) system which allows the occupants to provide preference feedback to the building operating system.
